newspaper... torture~~

we have always been encouraged to read newspaper to improve our knowledge and language.. erm i think thats the reason right?

anyway i find it quite troubling to read especially e straits times.. i mean for Newpaper i probably focus more on its sports news then e other news..

an example for today's sunday times, (yea i bought it out of impulse after my run..) there are a few questions which i cud not find answers to...

1)e political scene in Thai
i cant remember how many times i heard this but is our SG political scene good especially when its largely dominated by one party.. but looking at our neighbours, is that really a bad thing? as of now, we are pretty well off i wud say in the region.. will having more "stronger" opposing parties really benefit SG, or drive it towards instability..

2)Naming a MRT station Hwa Chong..
yes its outside Hwa Chong Institution, yes it has a huge history, yes its quite a landmark.. but isnt it abit too much to name a station after hwa chong? given the nation's success driven mentality, will there be other schools fighting to have MRT stations, road named after their sch? so we might have a SG Poly station instead of dover? its quite unfair to the rest of the schs right? its like acknowledging that Hwa Chong is one of its own, will it get too full of itself? in a way, can it be seen as giving them "special" privilege or power? although i admit duchess isnt a nice name..

3) our table tennis team autograph session..
seriously, will the true fans pls stand up?? in our achievement-driven society, how many of them are true fans, how many of them are willing to stick with them through highs and lows.. if they did not win a medal, these supposedly supporters.. will they even show up? it hurts to see that our sports scene are only supported only after they start to show some results.. results really that impt? where's e passion?
i might be stereotyping but then the huge attention arose only after they won the medal..

hmmm.. mayb like all our parents say.. jus go concentrate in ur studies..

whole line fish...

i feel stupid.. today went to fish n co, and my frds and i was wondering wats whole line fish.. after some ridiculous suggestion, we decided to try out wat it realli is, and i am probably not tinking at tat time by volunteering to try it..



and tadah!!! i got it right... unlike my frd's theory of 1 line of different type of fishes..

went to watch kallang roar today.. its a v passionate movie.. its really a nice show to watch.. watching how a coach with much success came back to sg, just because he felt that he shld do smth abt sg football.. and we see wats close to us, sports vs economic survival.. and how he did not give up, instill self belief and pride to sg soccer.. how he unite e nation cheering on for 11 men on e pitch..

and his inspiring half time talk in the dressing rm, when his players are facing family problems.. was so touching.. and how he delay his operation to limp his way to e kallang stadium to see them play, to hear the roar..

but e soccer action is v comical though.. hahah so fake.. and e refree kayu!!! chants.. and e army daze feel during the players centralised training.. haha how they sneak out to have fun, onli to be punished later.. and e scene where e player wake up to see rain and says YEA NO TRAINING, den go back to slp.. definitely strikes e heart for some of us, during our training days back in e army.. but of cos, e coach stand in e rain waiting for them to come, which touched e players..

in short.. its v touching and full of passion.. i cant help but wonder in recent days, how many are as passionate abt local sports as uncle choo back then.. and whu cud have persevere as he did..

weekday review...

weekdays gone le..

been v busy.. alot of stuff not done..

on tues, wasted my free day.. but not touching any work..

on thurs gt splashed by some inconsiderate fast moving bus when i jus reached the bus stop.. whole front wet sia.. so pissed off..

den i tink i drop my highlighter.. no big deal.. yea but den i gotta get a new one..

den today, in a v blur state.. actually i onli realise i lost e highlighter today.. den went to jp get contacts and dinner.. onli to realise i spent more time travelling den my time there.. den i forgot to collect my mom's stuff..

e onli positive part is watching wall.e with xiao zhu tou.. gt the feeling like been v long since we last went out tgt although we jus went to watch fireworks last sat.. hahaha..

haiz.. hopefully my weeks can improve ba..

rainy rainy rainy day...

tot i could go out for a run this morning.. and i was greeted with rain droplets on my face at 7.45am waking me up b4 e intended 8.30.. geez.. and im supposed to go fireworks display today!!!



haiz.. and when e rain stop, i tot things wud be fine.. but it rained!!!! NON STOP!! such a cold and damping weather..

anw went ahead.. this time i was not armed wif my camera.. its a diff thing now.. becos i realised trying to capture it on camera is quite a waste of being there.. its so much nicer seeing it as it is.. rather den trying to concentrate to see if my camera managed to catch e whole landscape..

and of cos.. watching wif someone special brings firework watching a totally new experience for me.. a good one if not for e weather..

reached home and received a letter from UOB.. that hideous looking NOW debit card which does nt have NETS service compared to e previous debit card probably receive so much complaints and feedbacks such that they finally enable NETS service!!! coool!!! smart move..

Death Race

THIS MOVIE ROCKS!!!

alot action.. kinda like twisted metal if you can remember tat once famous PS game.. where u r in a vehicle and u gt weapons like missiles and machine guns.. damn cool..

e first scene is very interesting.. it has this paragraph that sort of intro when e movie is based on.. it states year 2010, and the US economy falls leading to high unemployment rates resulting in rising crime rates. As criminals get very high, prisons cannot support e outstanding number and soon some prisons are taken over by e private sector..

and as a private sector, obviously they wanna make money.. so they have these matches where criminals fight each other to death and will be streamed online.. and audience appetite grow and soon they have this thing call Death Race where they use modified cars armed wif big machine guns and missiles and thick shields..

a man who gt very good driving skills gt sabotaged so that he can end up in jail to take over a deceased driver who was apparently e highlight of e race.. this is such tat can boost the ratings and viewership and more money can be earned by e company..

its a v interesting plot to me.. because it actually make use of some issues which are happening in e real world, like how privately owned company are onli concerned abt money making, and how badly e society will be affected if economy collapsed.. and there is also e issue of exploitation in poor economy although its in e front few scenes..

esp this line from e factory worker which i tot strikes me abit.. the factory is closing dwn and they are getting their last pay.. they gt e option of hard cash or cheque.. but given tat the company is collapsing, whu wud go for cheque.. and when they ask for cash, all they gt was like 300 bucks for a few months of work.. as the workers stays in e factory area grumbling, e riot police was called in.. and this worker said.. we are working as honestly as you are and we are just asking for our rightful pay, what are u guys doing here.. and this spark of a mass melee..

very interesting... but den e rest are jus actions, lots of driving and fire power.. looks as if we are playing a game though.. not too bad a movie..

picked up a copy of newpaper today and got some stuff to share after reading it..

There was a python spotted at e construction site of e circle line, and guess wat? e police was called in and they caught e snake..

hmmm.. there wasnt an whole article on it, but den again.. isnt it amazing wat our police can do..??

oh and then there was e baby bonus issue.. to which i find it troubling.. mayb my mindset will change if im e parent..

there were complaints by soon to be mothers abt e baby bonus excluding them.. there was also this comment that, how can they be forgotten when they are answering to the nation's call for more babies.. (referring to the implementation date of e baby bonus which was initially 1 Jan 09)

from my point of view, shldnt a couple have accessed and plan its financial status and got mentally prepared for responsibility and stuff during their baby-making decision and erm actions?? (unless accident den i gt nth to say..)

from my pt of view, they are treating their baby like a money making opportunity?? its like since they going to have it, shldnt i get it too.. kinda like too money-grabbing.. and some of them are actually regretting that they are giving birth b4 the date of e bonus..

hmm mayb baby bonus shld have a change of name? stop treating babies like commodities.. i mean, baby bonus is a scheme to assist couples in days of rising cost, it shld not be e factor why couples want to make babies..

singaporeans.. we are most affected when money is concerned..

EPL IS BACK!!!

YESH.. this weekend EPL IS BACK!!! more soccer actions during weekends!! jus a sad thing Champions League experienced has been destroyed by a certain MIO TV.. bleah.. not rich enuff to have 2 setup boxes.. bleah..

anyway this reminds me of a qns that my lecturer posted ystd on Singapore Society.. he asked.. which year did our birth rate start to drop..

while e whole lecture stared blankly, he then replied.. its the year that LIVE EPL is broadcasted.. he also said for all the baby bonuses, all govnt gotta do is to stop EPL broadcast, then e guys will not be occupied between 10pm to 2am every weekend and they probably start doing some other things. HAHAHA obviously e guys laughed but e gers were slightly lost.. mayb cos they dunno wat EPL stands for..

but he added, EPL should still be broadcasted to guys whose "missions" are over. referring to himself..

1 week of sch has passed and i tink i haven gt my studying mood back.. still v lazy lazy..

but there are some returns from this week..

for eg..

being a student in one of e 3 major uni in sg.. i find it v amusing at this sight.. i was in a new LT, and i expect more of it especially when its new.. as in.. at least i dun expect to see e whole row of students standing up so that the inner one can get out.. i mean even e older LT is better in this aspect.. unless of cos e idea is to stick e students to e seats den i got no better say.. and one side note, i tink e new LT gt this reception blocking thingy tat apparently will let students have poor or no reception on their phone.. hmmm.. high tech.. but brainless in the design of e seats?

a lect tat i went to today.. has one of e most amusing lecturer i ever met.. hahaha i dun tink i will fall aslp in his lecture sia.. he is so COLD!!! ahaha he crack cold jokes and best.. he expects ppl to laugh!! and his actions all so comical la.. finally a consolation to a seemingly difficuly sem..

tutorials starting soon.. yikes.. haiz.. gotta find my lost mood back..

not bad.. e length jus nice.. and e scenes all v nice although i tink its quite a budget flim.. e no of actors/ actress can be counted wif ur fingers.. but e view really nice.. and quite action packed too..

fudgies rainy bbq.. boohoo

finally had a fudgie outing after much failures in organising one..

today turn out not bad.. quite many ppl.. but den sadly heard xiaobai was down wif fever.. xiaobai seem to be sick every now and then.. take care eh!!

hahah today bbq de food v last min prepare de.. nth but hotdogs, crabstick, sotong ball and chicken wing.. oh and fish n sotong which we end up using e oven to cook them.. and of cos some marshmellow and a failed choco fondue..

but today gt xiao zhu tou feeding me.. hehe.. esp e marshmellow.. v nice..

but too bad it rained.. sad.. tats why we ended up using oven to cook our stingrays and sotongs..

den i did e most embarrassing thing.. i lost my way after offering to give a lift to je mrt.. haahah.. so paiseh la.. and end up sending xiao zhu tou home rather late.. haiz.. and i look at e road directoy b4 leaving e carpark somemore.. guess i need some work wif my memorising..

my sweet sweet day..

today went out with xiao zhu tou.. watched Money No Enough 2 and den ate at Shokudo at raffles city there..

hahaha wat an experience to be watching a movie at 3pm on a weekday.. guess wat.. we were surrounded by aunties and uncles!! okie la nt tat exaggerated but almost 90% are working adults and older..

anyway e movie is nice.. i tink it would make a lovely mother's day movie.. e ending quite touching.. and one of e last few lines during e ending is realli true.. 身在福中不知福..

den had dinner.. dinner was great.. hahaha especially when gt someone feeding u.. hehe.. hahaha.. den had dessert at tat i dunno wats e shop name.. e dessert store at e end of city link.. so cool.. e cashier sounds like a japanese!!! e way she talked.. and her look.. but i saw her name tag.. sounds pretty chinese.. and apparently she do understand chinese more den she understand english..

den had a stroll ard e area.. with lollipop.. hehe.. 2 kids walking dwn e street with lollipop in their mouth.. was v sour though e lollipop..

anyway.. it was a v well spent day wif xiao zhu tou.. hehe.. we do need slp though..

Slpy soccer

went for soccer this morning..

supposed to be promising with the number of ppl present.. but den.. jus when we woke up a little and in e mood for e game, it start to rain!!! argh!! so wasted..
anyway learned 2 things during soccer today:

1) have enuff slp b4 going for soccer.. was v groggy dis morning and was whack in e face by e ball.. e pt is, i can see e ball flying towards my face but i jus cudnt react.. there was plenty of time for me to siam e ball but obviously my reflex action was not working.. my jaw still hurts..

2) when ur shoe has caused ur skin to tear, dun assume tat a plaster can help reduce e impact.. i had such difficulty running cos every other step in my soccer boots hurt.. argh..

went for dinner at MOF at marina.. den well waiting for T and T, xiao zhu tou and i decided that we were slightly bored.. AND.. we took photos and ITS V V NICE.. too bad.. its for "personal consumption" onli.. no sharing of pics for this one.. hahaha but i can give u a sneak peak at how boliao we were..


hehe.. we were so bored tat our feet gt stuck tgt.. hahahaha..

Tradition VS Reality

okie this is going to be a naggy post.. u have been warned..

today is e first day of the annual hungry ghost festival and e sight tat i saw when i was walking home was.. a bit sad..

im not realli an environment guy.. but i cant help but wonder, is it time to re-evaluate our traditions. we are at one side facing e issue of environment protection which is a worldwide issue but wat i saw today was a TOTAL different thingy..

not to touch abt e burning of offerings and paper money, (which obviously is polluting e air.. tink abt how everyone is encouraging ppl to take public transport to reduce e air pollution by cars.. but den again its e tradition) we can see "rubbish" (inverted commas as they arent really rubbish if u stand at e tradition pt of view) everywhere.. take out e offerings by e side of e grass patches, u see the paper slip used to bundle e paper money everywhere.. the plastic bags tat contain e paper money and offerings lying ard.. isnt tat littering?? as if e burning isnt harming e environment enough

and if sg with such a small population is alr contributing to so much "rubbish" and pollution, imagine china.. with e majority of e chinese population there, imagine e whole china "smoking"..

im not condemning e tradition, but wats e use of environment protection policies when every month of e year, there is some serious pollution that is going on, and somehow we cannot regulate e practice as it will be viewed as discrimination to the chinese tradition..

is tradition that impt? hmmmm..

okie back to daily stuff.. today is e first day of e long week i going to spend wif piggy head... hahaha (getting lazier to type xiao zhu tou) had dinner at fei cui hong kong cafe at bugis there.. pretty decent food except that the yuan yang gt a bit too much milk in my opinion..

and sch starting pretty soon~~ i haven pack my files and my xtra notes.. hahaha time to get my lazy bum off my seat in front of e com.. but den again.. next week ba.. teehee
